AAR Mission 7-5-2011
Unfortunately Milt notified me a
little before mission time that when he tried to fire up his computer tonight
things did not go so well, and
he was unable to lead the squad
tonight. We decided to wait a week on the COTG ceremony and just run a regular
mission instead.
When we logged on we found the
biggest battle raging on an island in eastern part of the map where Knights had
gained a foothold on a Bish
island and were attempting to push
further north. ( Fig. 7-5-11a ) The BIsh had taken out ords at A150, so we
backed up to A153 and rolled
as a group in heavy fighters with the
intention of leveling the hangars at A53. As we overflew A150 and proceeded
north we encountered
an occasional P51, but we held our
ords and were able to get past them as they looked for easier prey.
Then just south of A53 a large enemy
contingent of mainly 262's with an alt advantage of 2-3000 feet on us came down
from the north.
At that point we were forced to go
light and jump into the furball.
The Knights eventually pushed the
fight right up to A53, and we went to work on the town along with dispatching
the uppers from the field.
With the large group of Knights
present it was only a matter of about 25 minutes before the field was finally
captured.
The Specs made a good showing with a
number of kills, including a 3 kill run I saw Swoose land <S>.
Meanwhile, a Knight Task Group had
approached A149 over on the west coast, and had bombarded and then captured that
base.
Our Knight horde then turned our
attention to A52 to the NW of A53. The Specs were among the first on the scene
and dropped the radar and
I believe a FH and the VH. We were
followed in by a large mission group and together we trashed the town and the
capture was quickly made.
Finally we rolled heavy fighters
again from A53 north to the last Bish base on the island, A54. ( Fig 7-5-11b )
The Bish sent over only a small group
of fighters to oppose us, but the Specs did manage to get several kills. The
base was subdued after a
relatively brief battle and the
capture was made, bringing the island completely under Knight ownership! ( Fig.
7-5-11c ) :))
Thanks to all the pilots who flew the
mission, and as usual I was pleased to see the contribution our squad made to
the overall Knight advance.
See you all next week for the COTG
and our first official mission under the command of Milt and Swoose! <S>
Since this will most likely be my
last AAR I wanted to make sure you all saw that I have learned to make really
nice drawings on my screenshots
( although nowhere near as good as
Master Fuze can do ) even though I can't get them in the correct order in the
email.
