Stirring up the Bish at A116

What better way to spend a Titanic Tuesday than stirring up the Bish at A116? A once peaceful base with no activity. That all changed when the *Specialists* began their assault around 09:15 by launching into the skies in heavy fighters of choice (FOC) from A101. A debrief from Skunk follows (many thanks Sk). The webmaster would also like to note that Ditto has joined the 6 pack club.

Way to go Ditto! Excellent flying <S>. Overall excellent turnout but always missing some of our buds that could not make it.

 29 April 2008

First off, I got to say I really like that Wirebelwind. The four 20mm cannon sound great, the tracers, the ammo load and the visibility from the turret.

The squad really stirred up the hornets nest last night. "The Specialists" were attacking a base to the SW of A101 and  and then Floatsup did a mission to the west of 101. Unknown to us for awhile a enemy cv was otw to 101 and the resistance from the enemy was soon out numbering the Specs.

Then the enemy dar bar south and west of 101 got huge. I guess 101 was a thorn in the side of the enemy. 101 was swamped with enemy that soon had the base out of commission, no fighters, no gv's, no bombers.

I spent my time watching from the tower waiting for the gv hanger to come up. There most of been about 30 enemy planes  attacking. I was kinda proud of Duel and Milt, couldn't believe how long they lasted against that many.

Meanwhile, Joker and the rest of the squad upped from A117, with the rescue mission to save 101. The enemy was working the town over like bumblebees attacking someone who kicked their nest. I expected to get booted out of the tower any
second.

The fighter hangers came up, but it was suicide to take off. Several Knights said no way were they going to even try. The Specs
from 117 arrived at 101 and were soon joined by other Knights and then the battle begin.

I don't think I have ever seen soon many planes, in such a big dogfight. This one was bigger than the last time I said this.
The vehicle hanger came up and I took off in the Wirebelwind. There were targets everywhere, turn and shoot, turn and shoot.
I kept the gv in gear, didn't want to be a stationary target. I know I got a few kills but was just to busy shooting. Finally went
thru my 5000 rounds and was going to end my sortie. Then I noticed someone had left supplies and picked them up, started
my engine and I was off again.

The sky was thick with red and green icons. Everywhere I looked, I saw a Spec, Swoose, Duel, Ditto, Joker, Milt. Ditto landed
a 6 kill (Congratulation Ditto!), Milt a 4 , I'm sure the others got kills also.

I ran out of ammo a second time and decided to end my sortie. Surprised the heck out me when the message came up I
had got 6 kills in the Wirebelwind. I only soon 2 kill messages, the rest of time I was flinging lead. lol

I re-upped in the Wirbelwind and headed to the town while the battle was slowly turning in favor of the Knights. Got to the
town in time to help shoot 2 goonies down.

The Specs and Knights put up a great defense. Really proud of the way everyone rallied to save 101.

I hope someone filmed this fight because has usual, I forgot to turn on the camera.

Great AAR SKu, and great job in your Wirbel !!
I guess that puts you in the 6 pack club!   ;-)

It was a wild scene with that huge raid on 101. At first, I thought they would back off after their cv was sunk right off our coast, but then they all upped from A100 in P-47's and trashed our base. I heard one Knight say the he hadn't seen that many jugs since he worked in the dairy! We defenders kept up the pressure, and eventually we got the advantage back, but the battle raged for nearly 2 hours.

Great job last night Specs <<S>>

Thanks for the congrats on the 6 kills in the Wirebelwind, but I think the Sixpack should be for aircraft only.

I believe it takes more skill and would be a greater honor to join that club by acheiving those kills as a fighter pilot.

So I respectively decline until then.

(Webmaster note: Membership into the 6-pack Club is by aircraft only. But, that includes Bombers as long as only you are tail-gunning. It also is amended to include use of the re-arm pad.)

Man Sku, I don’t know about all that….  A six-pack is a six-pack … it wasn’t like you were vultching.  I’d be doing good to get a single kill in a Wirby, much less six.  (I suck wind in the ground vehicles)

Great write-up on the mission, and thanks for the kudos. The initial on-slaught I managed to stay up a while, but it didn’t take long, and several of my flight’s were over in less than a minute…. That was a total mess.

I lost two four packs last night unfortunately, before I landed the 4 PT boat kills you saw, those puppies were worth a whopping’ .61 perks, LOL!

The worst was coming back over the mountains, two F6F’s in tow. I was pilot wounded and smoking, lots of holes in my Spit 9. The closest one was right on me, 200 out; as we came over the ledge I dove down, he followed and smacked a tree, I got a proximity kill. The second one followed me over the base, into the field ack. Just as I reached base, I had cut the throttle and blacked out, and he nailed me just as I was regaining consciousness. That was frustrating, there’s a 100 good planes in the area he could have gone after, but instead he picked the spit belching fluids from every nook and cranny, including the cockpit. I re-upped just in time to see him get nailed by the ack, which didn’t make me feel too much better…. That was the flight the entire friggin’ Bishop hoard showed up.  It started off with a bunch of P-47’s, then carrier planes…  at one point I lost my tail and was spinning on the way down over the base; firing my guns I actually hit a couple of NME planes, LOL!

Anyways- I’d like to raise my glass to all of the Knights that died, re-upped and re-upped again last night defending 101, and to the Bishops that… well…. ahem…  CHOKED last night at 101, well….. <S>  I too was waiting to see the Bishops have captured A101 message that never came.  J
