29 April 2008 Stirring up the Bish at A116
What better way to spend a Titanic Tuesday than stirring up the Bish at A116? A once peaceful base with no activity. That all changed when the *Specialists* began their assault around 09:15 by launching into the skies in heavy fighters of choice (FOC) from A101. A debrief from Skunk follows (many thanks Sk). The webmaster would also like to note that Ditto has joined the 6 pack club. Way to go Ditto! Excellent flying <S>. Overall excellent turnout but always missing some of our buds that could not make it. Attendance (11) Seal RTS Ditto Skunk Duel Milt Swoose Luft Debrief First off, I got to say I really like
that Wirebelwind. The four 20mm cannon sound great, the tracers, the ammo load
and the visibility from the turret.
Great AAR SKu, and great job in your Wirbel !!
I guess that puts you in the 6 pack club! ;-)

It was a wild scene with that huge raid on 101. At first, I thought they
would back off after their cv was sunk right off our coast, but then they
all upped from A100 in P-47's and trashed our base. I heard one Knight say
the he hadn't seen that many jugs since he worked in the dairy! We defenders
kept up the pressure, and eventually we got the advantage back, but the
battle raged for nearly 2 hours.
Great job last night Specs <<S>>

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Great writeup SK. Congrats to you and Ditto for Man Sku, I don’t know about all that…. A six-pack is a six-pack … it wasn’t like you were vultching. I’d be doing good to get a single kill in a Wirby, much less six. (I suck wind in the ground vehicles)
Great write-up on the mission, and thanks for the kudos. The initial on-slaught I managed to stay up a while, but it didn’t take long, and several of my flight’s were over in less than a minute…. That was a total mess.
I lost two four packs last night unfortunately, before I landed the 4 PT boat kills you saw, those puppies were worth a whopping’ .61 perks, LOL!
The worst was coming back over the mountains, two F6F’s in tow. I was pilot wounded and smoking, lots of holes in my Spit 9. The closest one was right on me, 200 out; as we came over the ledge I dove down, he followed and smacked a tree, I got a proximity kill. The second one followed me over the base, into the field ack. Just as I reached base, I had cut the throttle and blacked out, and he nailed me just as I was regaining consciousness. That was frustrating, there’s a 100 good planes in the area he could have gone after, but instead he picked the spit belching fluids from every nook and cranny, including the cockpit. I re-upped just in time to see him get nailed by the ack, which didn’t make me feel too much better…. That was the flight the entire friggin’ Bishop hoard showed up. It started off with a bunch of P-47’s, then carrier planes… at one point I lost my tail and was spinning on the way down over the base; firing my guns I actually hit a couple of NME planes, LOL!
Anyways- I’d like to raise my glass to all of the Knights that died, re-upped and re-upped again last night defending 101, and to the Bishops that… well…. ahem… CHOKED last night at 101, well….. <S> I too was waiting to see the Bishops have captured A101 message that never came. J
