Good morning Gentlemen!

We decided to target Rook base A54 from Knight base A53 in heavy P-51’s due to a strong enemy presence in the area.

Shortly after takeoff, we were jumped by an enemy P-51. I am not sure if he shot anyone down, but was able to score multiple kills on our group due to our heavily laden P-51’s handling like pigs (Auger!). RTS retired him, and the majority of the squad re-upped from A53 again in fresh aircraft to try again.

This time, we made it to base no problem, as several other Knights were in the area and had the base pretty well covered. As we approached, the VH was already down, and the radar was knocked out just before we started our attack.

A54 is a medium airbase, and finding the new hangers was no problem for the Specialists, we took all four of them out on our initial sortie. Fuze put his ordinance on the town, and he and several others commenced flattening the town.

About this time, with the hornet’s nest thoroughly hit with a baseball bat, Rook re-enforcements started arriving in small but effective waves, including a pesky 262. The VH came up (and went right back down, thanks to us) and several Wirby’s hit the field running. Fighter hangers were coming up, then going right back down, but even with a strong collaborative effort, we couldn’t screw the lid down on A54. At one point we mused that we were the only ones interested in shutting that base down, which probably isn’t far from the truth, the majority of the knights seemed quite content to pick.

Several of us landed multiple kills in our P-51’s, I think I saw Luft and Engr each land a 4-pack, WTG guys!

All in all, a good night, but we didn’t shut the base down as I’d hoped we would. It’s obvious the new base and town layouts are going to take some getting used to.

Several Specs were in attendance, I apologize I didn’t write them all down. Thanks to all that attended, you know who you are! J

We’ll take it to them again next week,

Until then, blue skies all.

::::MISSION ORDERS:::

for immediate dissemination

Mission for tonight will be a ground attack and subsequent fighter CAP.

Since we have brand new field and town layouts to get sed to I figured we could
get up close and personal with the hangars and the VH....and then learn
a bit about the town.
We will check out the strat situation when we log in, and plan to attack a
base that will help push the Knight front forward.
If there is a significant amount of resistance we will be in the P-51D for it's
fighting abilities, and if things look a little quieter we will be taking up the P-47
for the ord capacity.

Takeoff at 9 pm eastern...plane/loadout info then.
See you all there!
