The
Fog of War

Hi Guys,
Sorry about the delay on this one. You hear about the 'fog of war' and
this AAR might be slightly foggy. However this is not related to the
'fog of war' but the 'fog of an old farts memory' so bear with me and
have a chuckle.
At squad time there was a heated battle south of A4 that included an
enemy task group. We initially took off from A1 and headed east to (1)
sink the enemy carrier and (2) attack and capture A4. Some Ju-88s were
rolled at A1 for a torpedo attack and some flew fighter cover. Their
strong defense prevented us from sinking the carrier in one sortie and
the battle raged. As the carrier headed east, possibly to get out of
harms way, we shifted our takeoffs to A5 to attack the task group head
on. In the process other Knights that were already fighting there did
manage to sink the carrier.
It was then noticed that the enemy was trying to attack a few of our
mainland bases so we relocated to A11 and took off with heavy fighters
to attack A10. Our northern port, A14, began to flash so we headed there
to reconoiter the situation. On our approach we noticed a few bombers
slightly lower than us. We went light to fight and attacked the bombers,
a group of B-17s. We pounced on them quickly and they were dispatched
but in the process a few of us took some damage and tried to land or
ditch at P14. We then noticed the second group of bombers a group of
B-26s that seemed intent on bombing the port. They were so intent on
bombing the gunners fell asleep and we managed to shoot them down as
well. RTS and I rtb-ed to A11 and if I remember correctly we landed 7
kills.
Now the fog rolls in :o) I can't remember if we then flew from A17 in
the south to hit A18 or not. That may have been later on after everyone
but me logged off or it may even have been a completely different night
and battle. I'll skip that part because I can't remember it LoL. I do
know and remember Joker and I flying off C13 way up north to hit and
capture V58 so I'll talk about that.
Some Admiral Gilligan had moved both our task groups deep, and I mean
DEEP, into enemy territory and with P14 in jeopardy the Knights decided
to use it to our best advantage. Even if it got sunk in the process we
could use it there and get it back to our territory if and when it did
get sunk, which it eventually did. With other Knights help A58 was
captured and made a nice diversion and forced the enemy to relocate
resources north to recapture it. C13 was repaired and refurbished and
sailed out of P14 to help attack A10 later in the evening.
