AAR

Good day Gentlemen:

Last night’s operations, we took the fight to Bishop Base A2.

A number of Spec’s were in attendance, Joker, Seal, Ditto, Engr, Oversire, Sku, fuzeman, Swoose, myself- and of course- Darks, the original Specialist!    That’s two weeks in a row, it’s a real honor to fly with him again!

Seal suggested a Lancaster mission, which in retrospect would have worked out well due largely to the Knight P-51 raid that originated at A9, and arrived over the target just before we did. (and I heard ya Seal- we’ll plan a Lancaster mission ASAP)

Instead, due to intercepted flights to A2 prior to official Squad ops, I opted for more heavily armed and better defended B-17’s.   Joker, Seal, Darks, Engr, Swoose and myself all flew 3 man formations of B-17s from A10, while Ditto, Fuze, Oversire and Sku took p-51’s to provide fighter cover.

We reached the A2 without any drama, and we had plenty of time to line up on targets. The heavy 51 raid that went in before us was unsuccessful in hurting the base much at all, I believe on the radar and one ordinance was burning when we arrived over the target. The P-51 raid did however clear the air over the base, and I only saw one fighter engaged at high altitude by Sku.

We made two passes over the base with our bombers, and successfully closed it. Everyone scored hits, and we left A2 in ruins.  Several Specialists landed damage and kills, it was beautiful. J

The second sortie consisted of heavy fighters, but the Bishops were relentless in their defense of A2. When I logged last night at 10:15 CST, it was fully operational, and still dishing it out.  Best I can tell, the Specialists made the biggest dent all night long, but without the cooperation of other Knights, we were unable to close the deal.  (I think mainly the Knights that were on were more interested in furballing.)

We have been seeing very good turnout attendance wise, which is a great thing.   With numbers like this, we proved last night that we can flatten a small base completely, in short order.

Some of the best memories I have of Air Warrior, was when 25-32 Specs would wing up and absolutely steamroll Az and Cz bases. (Sometimes, one after another)

We are reaching enough strength to do that again, but in order to finish what we start, it’s becoming obvious that we’ll need a Goon driver, since like last night, we couldn’t count on the other Knights in the area to pick up the ball.

I’ll volunteer for Goon duty next time we have 9-10 specs on line, we’ll see if we can sneak one in.   J  The more Specialists that show up the better!

Excellent night overall, great to see the numbers up!  Outstanding performance last night from all- but Engr was the standout, landing more damage than anyone else. WTG Engr!

Thanks to all !
