Attack on A9....revisited
This week when the Specs assembled in TT we found the same map with many of the
major battles being fought over the same bases as a couple of weeks ago.
A9 was under heavy Knight attack, so we launched F6F's and F4u's from C163,
which was about 1.5 sectors SW of A9.
We were able to take down the FH's to assist the effort, and after about 20
minutes the Bish defense effort at the base was wiped out and the base was
captured.
The next target was V10, about one sector further east on the island.
It was important to neutralize this base quickly since the Bish were sending
large numbers of gv's in from there for a recapture effort on A9.
From A9 we rolled in heavy FOC for this hop.
We managed to take out the VH's in just a few minutes during the first wave of
the attack.
However there were at least 10 wirbels out, and I watched as these guys were
dispatched nicely with a couple of impressive carpet bombing attacks.
V10 was then held and captured with RTS dropping the capture team.
We then proceeded to the far eastern end of the island, and A11. A11 was hotly
contested for quite a while, with the Bish sending in fighters form the east as
well as many gv's from a spawn point north of the town.
The Fh's and VH were taken out several times in the course of the attack, but
after a prolonged fight A11 was finally taken.
All in all it was a very successful evening for the Specialists.
Multiple kills were landed, and we contributed heavily to the successful assault
on these bases.
