Mission Debrief 12-14-2010
As briefed, the Specialists gathered at A24 and rolled out in Mossies and
several British escort fighters. Our target was Bishop field A40 about 2 sectors
to the southeast.
When we arrived over the target there was a heavy enemy fighter presence and we
lost several pilots to enemy action, but we did manage to take down about half
the
FH's, and I believe the VH as well. This was a good start but it looked like
taking the base would not be easy.
About the time we were regrouping for another run on A40, there was a report of
an enemy CV group just east of A53, which was west of our A40 area of operation.
We re-upped at A53 in heavy fighters and attacked the CV. After a short battle
the CV was sunk. I think it was SKu who delivered the final blow. <S>
A number of other Knights were then upping from A53 to press the attack on A40.
We joined in the action and A40 was captured in only about 20 minutes.
We stayed with the same group and jumped from our new base at A40 east to hit
A54.....this base was also captured after a relatively brief battle.
From A54 our band of Knights then continued northeast to attack V41. There were
many enemy GV's and a few enemy aircraft opposing us, but once again after
about 30 minutes the V base was captured by the Knights.
The next target was A42 further northeast on the island. I logged before this
was captured, so maybe someone who stayed can fill in the results of that
campaign.
All in all it was pretty amazing...three bases rolled up and a CV group
destroyed in a fairly short time period.
With the recent changes to the game I think this shows how important it is to be
a part of the overall team effort to advance the Knight position.
As usual, the Specs did an excellent job.
Thanks to all the pilots who flew. <S>
