ATR for 12 July 2011
(COTG Postponed another week)
pics/film to follow

Hi Guys,

After Training report for 12 July. We did visit the Dueling arena and ran tanks for most of the night getting used to the new commands including both driving and firing commands. It was a little difficult finding the other targets at first but I figured that's the way it would be in MA so I wanted to get used to what you would see when you use them.

I do believe there is a better way to familiarize yourself with and practice using tanks though. It is boring and can be done offline but you wont have to search for anything depending on what sides you use. If yoiu go offline and stay Knight you will have icons and shooting at friendly tanks. If you goto another country you will NOT have icons as they will be on another side.

You can set all offline drones as various tanks by bringing up yoiur clipboard and navigating to:

Options > Arena Setup > Offline drones , then use the drop down menu to select what each particular drone is.

Yoiu can also practice destroying ground structures by navigating to:

Options > Arena setup > Environment > Arena Settings > Arena Flags and unchecking the 'Protect Objects' setting.

To mention again the new commands this is from the readme when everything changed:

"Vehicles are now controlled with the W, A, S, and D keys.  This allows you to be able to completely control the vehicle while manning a gunner station.  A and D controls left and right turns and W and S controls acceleration and deceleration.  Holding down the S key will also shift into reverse.  Pressing <Shift W> will accelerate your vehicle to full speed without having to hold down the W key.  Pressing <Shift S> will bring your vehicle to a full stop.  Gear shifts take place automatically.

All tanks with turrets and tanksights now have a commander's position in place of the driver's position.  The commander's position can use the mouse or joystick to slew the turret.  Vehicles with commander's positions can only attach a second player as an observer and not a gunner.

Added new tank sights.  The German and Russian tanks are using sights with adjustable reticles.  You can dial in the range of the sight using the C and V keys or the mouse wheel if mapped.  Different tank sights have different magnifications and field of views.  Most tank sights are a single fixed power but some tanks (Tiger, Panther, Firefly) have a second maginification range that can be toggled using the zoom (Z) key.

NOTE:  Your mouse buttons will not be default mapped if you have remapped your joystick in the past.  You can map your mouse buttons in the control mapper."
