Rocket Night
Celebrating Man's 50th Year in Space

It was about 21:05 in the training arena. Joker, RTS, Swoose, Luft, and Sk (Skunk) were waiting on the squad to show for our dive bomb training session with The Fuzeman. We were all flying FOC and laying a few eggs with our piper's when Luft had a brilliant idea: take an ME-163 to space and glide her home like the space shuttle. He said it was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's launch into space in 1961 on April 12th. He died.....Luft that is. Yuri lived, and a good life at that! He was the first human in space. He was preceded by dogs and monkeys from both the USA and the USSR

Joker noted that one notch of flaps can pull you out of an uncontrolled descent and it worked. We all ran out of gas way up there and then tried to glide them home.Gliding got rather dull so we followed Jokers lead over to Titanic Tuesday.

The Knights were grabbing territory in a merciless onslaught of utter destruction. Still, the Bish held their ground longer than expected. Especially when they realized that the intense magnitude of our obliteration campaign against them meant complete hopelessness for them. They should have just thrown in the towel, given us their sheep, and gotten outta Dodge. Gotten? Is that a word. Well it is now and so are the Bish. They've gotten themselves pushed back a few notches.

That will show you what some rocket training on the outer fringes of Aces High will do to you on another excellent Titanic Tuesday evening!

Then we launched our mission

Original Plan from Fuze:

Hello Gentlemen,

Second Tuesday of the month, not dog-sitting this week, so I should be able to attend and do Training.

An oldie, but a goodie we've been over before:  Dive Bombing :o)

Thinking that next month it might be DA ridealong night. Guys fly and have a squaddie join them to see how they fight.

Regarding dive bombing- What do you need to do to be accurate?

Think about that for a minute. And what can cause your accuracy and technique to fail you and conspire to make you miss your target?

Think about that for a minute too.

ID target of course, have to know what it looks like and where it is located on the base. Nice approach and fly the bomb onto the target. Give it a second to release, DO NOT COMPRESS OR RELEASE LOW AND HIT THE GROUND!!! This is another situation where laying on the K key for compression may save your bacon. Think of the German Mercedes Benz Kompressor..it's the same thing. They use a 'K' we use a 'C'. webmaster'Luft's 2 cents'

Take at least 30 minutes and load up ahta08, the training arena map, and do a few bomb runs like we do on training nights in TA. This will be much more realistic and give good feed back on if your technique is spot on or not. The ideal is to get a hanger down in two passes and guarantee you can do that. Perfection would be in one pass but that can be tough, and of course harder. Bombs go on first pass pulling out and climbing with minimum loss of Energy setting up a second pass on target using rockets to finish off the hanger. Again pulling out and surviving with no damage being able to loiter and fight with remaining squadmates.

See you there in TA Tuesday night 9pm. Seeing we've been over this before and hopefully you have done the offline part, we should be able to go over to TT and create some havoc.
