*Specialists* Squadron Debrief -
10 October 2006
"What Goes Around Comes Around"
or "Kill Rainman"
It was hard to pick a title for tonight's squad
night. Some good descriptions I heard mentioned by the squad were
"different", "Interesting night", and "a what waste of my money". Yes, it
was very rough from 09:00 until 10:20. Most of it caused by 2 enemies
named Rain000 something and Cpl03488 something or another. I call them D.H.A.G.D.(Dweebs Having A Good Day) Let me explain:
We started out in the Mid-War Arena. There were about
50 pilots in there when I entered at 09:00. Unfortunately, Fuze had
microswitch heater trouble. The Late War arena was nearly packed with
380 pilots. I found Seal, RTS, and Joker at A19. At that time this was
one of the last fields along the norther border of the Knights
territory. By quiting time this airfield was strangely left alone while
all surrounding fields had been captured. For an hour and a half it was
the 5 of us. Skunk joined up shortly after I entered. Our mission was to
ferry eggs and rockets across a short pond to A35. It was about a 10
minute flight to get there. For over an hour the only resistance we had
were from an LA5 and a P38/Zeke crossdresser. Other than the 5 of us and
the 2 of them, that seemed to be about the only resistance we
encountered, and, it was burtal.
Time and time again we were slaughtered in our B24's,
17's, 38's, and ME110's. Most of the time we were not grouped up because
there was little resistance and we weren't worried about 1 little Lala.
It turned out to be brutal. Each time we arrived it didn't take long before we were
launching again. One of those nights but frustration lead to anger and
payback time. It all started with Seal with chants of Kill Rainman, Kill
Rainman.
RTS opted out of his ME110 and slid into a light spit
and then started wepping his way, and fury, to A35 and Rainman. Joker
dumped his B24's and grabbed one of the redisegned P51's. Luft was heard
saying "I can take him in my 109 Franz" and wepped his way over the
pond. Once again, we were all shot down DHAGD. Rain was having an
awesome run in his La5. The guy would latch onto your six like stink on
doodoo and would not let go. He was up 4 or 5 kills a few times. It was
getting ridiculous. After an hour of this RTS had to get going (i don't
blame him). Skunk, upon review of the films, wrote "ok I'm drunk" and
"This is a waste of my money". He clearly had enough as well ang logged
saying "see you next week".
During the flights across the pond Luft brought up
the subject of planning a 10 year reunion each week in November. Both on
Tuesday nights as usual, and also on the weekends. Some of the ideas
floated around were a 24/7 Specialists arena in 8 player mode with Luft
hosting on the weekends. (More details to follow) Also weekend flights
culminating in one big get together towards the end of the month with as
many possible Specialists joining as possible. Remember, it's free for 2
weeks and if you haven't used yours this would be the time. Almost
everyone has a fast enough PC now and people should be able to get in
hardware wise.
Well, it's too bad both RTS and Skunk logged because
the very next flight it was *Specialists* payback time. It all started
at 10:21 pm. We were not grouped up and all arrived at separate times.
By now there were other enemies upping, probably around 5. Joker was
slicing and dicing in his P51 and RTB'd 3 kills. Seal ran out of gas and
was forced to ditch his 5.5 kills in the pond. Luft made it all the way
back to base with 3 kills. Unfortunately, he forgot that Rain had landed
a single shot to his BF109's right landing gear. After a beautiful final
approach, flare, and gentle touch down, the right side of the plane
collapsed. The propellor chewed up the runway and the plane skidded just
off the edge of the runway. He made it alive but no kills were credited
for a ditch.
It was agreed by all that it was fun anyway. And for
the 3 that took revenge for all Specialists...well, it's what we do!
